Press release, 19th November 2018

Scots For Leave issued the following press release on 19th November 2018:

The Prime Minister’s proposed deal on exiting the EU is unacceptable. It contradicts her promises to safeguard British freedoms.

She has allowed the EU to create ambiguity where none should exist.  And British experience with the EU proves that such ambiguity leads to future ‘reinterpretations’ of the text, never in our national interest.  They are, quite simply, a mechanism for the EU to get its own way.

The people know that, unlike a General Election, there is no chance of changing the deal after a few years.

This is a very bad deal.  The alternative is a vastly larger, rapidly growing global market, to which most of our exports go – Scottish and UK – and where we have huge opportunities.  Signing this deal closes off those opportunities.

Scots for Leave calls on Scots MPs of all parties to reject this bad deal when it comes before the House of Commons.

They will not be punished by voters if they are seen to support an outward-looking global trade position.

They will not be punished for standing up for our hard-pressed fishing communities.

And they will not be punished for supporting an outcome which will deliver higher wages for hard-working families across Scotland.

This deal requires us to continue to pay money. We do not know how much money – nor for how long we will have to pay. Unacceptable.

This deal says “all Brits are equal – but some are more equal than others”. Unacceptable.

This deal says we can leave – but only when they say we can leave. Unacceptable.

Our future is at stake.  Our MPs have the prosperity of all our children and grandchildren in their hands.  A vote for this deal is for a treaty we cannot change, handing over powers over many areas of our life and business to EU control, without power to regain them.

And nobody voted for that.

Scots for Leave asks every voter to contact their MP. It doesn’t matter what party they represent.  Contact them and tell them you expect them to vote No to the Prime Minister’s bad deal.
